Making Sense of Giftedness, Multi-Exceptionality & Neurodiversity

with Dr. Debbie Clelland

Credible, Accessible Information

for gifted folks, parents and educators

In many areas of the world, giftedness/multi-exceptionality/neurodiversity are not well understood. This leads to myths like “Gifted people will be fine, and we don’t need to do anything differently to support them.”  Instead, giftedness is actually a type of diversity. And like all diversities, it can lead to a feeling of “different-ness” and sometimes stigma.

Giftedness does not “stop” at a particular grade level.  Being gifted/multi-exceptional/neurodiverse is a diversity that people carry with them throughout their lives.  Yet without identification in the younger years, some people are “discovering” this about themselves as adults.  Or, if they were identified as children, realizing later that it has not “stopped” once graduating from high school.  Gifted/multi-exceptional/neurodiverse adults may be re-working their self-knowledge, identity and understanding of their own history - seeing it through a gifted context.

The goal of this website is to provide reliable information to gifted people of all ages, and to make it easy to access. The hope is that by having credible resources, gifted folks, parents and interested educators can make sense of giftedness, and also help others in schools, homes and community settings to learn about giftedness, multi-exceptionality, and neurodiversity.
